2 weeks and counting...
Hearing from health law and policy experts at last month's forum really whet our appetite for the Supreme Court oral arguments starting March 26th and the implications of the case on policies and programs in the ACA already underway. And we're clearly not the only ones interested. An article in the Associated Press reminds us that the ACA is a trek, not a sprint and that the law will take up to a decade to completely implement, long after Obama finishes a second term, should he win in November. This NY Times column analyzes the critical role Chief Justice Roberts' will play and notes that the ruling "will shape, if not define, his legacy" on the court. The lead attorneys in the case also stand to make history; the Washington Post has a feature on Paul Clement, attorney for the states' constitutional challenge to the law, and an AP story highlights the work of Obama's current Solicitor General Donald Verilli who will argue in favor of the ACA. Finally, Politico covers several potential back-up plans should the individual mandate be struck down.
